The 2011 Bengali film Romeo is a romantic comedy-drama starring Dev and Subhashree Ganguly. It is an official remake of the 2009 Telugu film Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam. The story follows a carefree young man who falls in love, but must reunite his estranged parents to prove his sincerity to his girlfriend's protective father. Plot summary The story is centered around two main characters: Pooja: A village girl who moves to Kolkata for higher studies. She is deeply attached to her doting father, who is very protective of her. Siddhartha "Siddhu": A happy-go-lucky charmer and Casanova who is part of Pooja's cousin's friend group. Beneath his cheerful exterior, Siddhu hides the pain of his parents' separation. As Pooja and Siddhu get to know each other, they fall in love. However, when Siddhu asks for Pooja's hand in marriage, her father presents him with an unusual condition: he must first reunite his own estranged parents. Siddhu's mother left his father years ago, and Siddhu learns that his father believes she left because she no longer loved him. The movie then follows Siddhu's and Pooja's joint efforts to mend his parents' broken relationship. Along the way, they uncover the true story of the separation. Ultimately, Siddhu manages to reunite his parents, and in doing so, convinces Pooja's father to bless his and Pooja's own relationship.
